Our PeopleManagementDr Peter W Walsh BE, MAppSc, Ph.D.Peter W Walsh, founder and director of BioQ Devices, holds 3 technology degrees in science and engineering, a Certificate of Enterprise through the NSW Enterprise workshop, and is an affiliate at the Queensland government ’ s incubator i.Lab, and a current participant in their Business Development Program. Dr Walsh has experience working in a number of fields and institutions both nationally and internationally which have resulted in him receiving several awards and the opportunity to be involved in various funded innovation projects. Dr Walsh is a part-time Lecturer at the School of Mechanical , Manufacturing, and Medical Engineering, QUT. Dr Craig McLachlan BSc(Hons) MPH&TM PhD(Medicine) MBA(Candidate)Dr Craig McLachlan is an entrepreneurial scientist with research and commercialisation experience in the Australian and Asian markets. Dr McLachlan founded the start-up Reperfusion and is an advisor to BioQ Devices on business strategy and general scientific matters, is currently developing the BioQ Devices Sales and Marketing Plan, and will assist in pre-clinical and clinical trials.Ms Donna-Marie CogginsDonna-Marie Coggins is qualified in Small Business Management, Office Administration and Journalism and operates a business support and writing service on the Gold Coast, Queensland (Jacaranda Business Support Services). Her book, a guide to operating a small business in Australia , was released in February 2004. She conducts regular workshops and seminars to assist businesses with their business planning and initial stages of development. Ms Coggins is assisting with the BioQ Devices business plan particularly with regard to business operations.Consultants and AdvisorsDr Mike Skalsky Ph.D, MBADr Skalsky has over 25 years of product development and commercialisation experience of implantable medical devices in Australian and international markets. Dr Skalsky has founded and built a successful medical technology company and recently has been advising a number of Australian biomedical devices start-ups on a wide range of subjects, including intellectual property policy and management, market research, business and product development planning, project management and investor readiness preparation. Mr Craig EstwickMr Estwick has over 20 years experience in finance and accounting, was previously a partner with Deloitte, and, following a Master of Technology Management, now runs investorReady, a commercialisation consultancy servicing early-stage technology organizations. Mr Estwick is advising on government grants, angel investors, and VC opportunities. Associate Professor Stan P Woodhouse MBChB, FRACPDr Woodhouse is a clinical advisor to BioQ Devices on heart failure management. He has over 30 year experience in public and private practice, was formally Director of Cardiology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital , is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) at the University of Queensland , and operates a private practice in Cardiology and Disorders of Lipid Metabolism out of the Taylor Medical Centre, Woolloongabba, Brisbane , Q. 4102. Dr Mark Gillies Ph.D.Dr Gillies has extensive modelling and mechanical design skills, and around 10 years experience with implant biomedical research. Dr Gillies now heads a new biomedical division at Worley Advanced Analysis in Sydney . Dr Gillies will be involved in finite element and computational fluid dynamic modelling for the WSG and will be involved in fatigue studies. Associate Professor James E MooreDr Moore of Texas A&M, holds a Ph.D from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and has extensive research and innovation experience in the cardiovascular field. Dr Moore is a scientific advisor on cardiovascular biomechanics. Research Professor Vladimir Mironov, M.D., Ph.D.Dr Mironov of the Medical University of South Carolina, USA, has expertise in vascular biology, cardiovascular developmental biology and tissue engineering and is currently a scientific advisor on vessel wall biological responses with respect to the technology. Associate Professor Vladimir KasyanovDr Vladimir Kasyanov from Riga Stradins University in Latvia , is an experienced academic in the field of blood vessel mechanics, and is a scientific advisor in device and vessel wall mechanics.
