BioQ Devices Pty Ltd, founded in 2004 by Dr Peter Walsh Ph.D., was awarded the iLab Technology Incubator Award at UQ Enterprize 2004, received a management skills grant from the federal government’s Commercialising Emerging Technology program in 2005, and has been awarded an Innovation Start-up Scheme grant from the Queensland government, which will help cover the costs of enhancing patent protection, manufacturing implantable prototypes, and conducting a pre-clinical animal study using the BioQ Cardiac Assist System.
